Hannah Wojtowicz, C’16

“Hannah Wojtowicz sold her beauty business for six figures in only five years!”

In 2016, I graduated with a Bachelor of Arts degree, and like many of us, I didn’t know exactly what was next for me. I wanted to see the future, and I wanted to know exactly what next steps to take! Well… That just isn’t how life works, is it?

Post-graduation, I was immediately employed full-time at a corporate job. To be frank, this position didn’t fulfill me. Although I could have easily faced the challenges of this position in a negative way, I remembered the values that I learned from my education at SVC. I made the choice to show up every day, embodying my Benedictine education, and decided to follow where Christ was leading me.

After getting some years of work experience, and through my time in prayer, I felt called to begin my journey as a female entrepreneur. I opened an organic beauty business called BlushTan Pittsburgh in 2018 with my sister, Emma. As you can imagine, I faced many more challenges as our business grew! However, my well-rounded education and my values in faith have kept me steady throughout the twists and turns that life has thrown at me.

It’s hard to pinpoint exact moments in my education that helped me to achieve my success in business. Rather, I believe Saint Vincent College’s core education helped me to grow in ways that I could never have imagined. I was able to explore all subjects with an open mind, from mathematics, to marketing, and even rock ‘n’ roll criticism (taught by English professor Dr. McDaniel)! Developing this core education prepared me to problem solve through critical thinking, develop time management, and gave me the confidence and skills to become a leader in my field. I’m extremely proud to have built and sold a 100% women-owned business before the age of 30. However, this success would not have been possible without the foundation of my education at SVC.

I’ll end with this advice for young entrepreneurs: business isn’t easy! However, it becomes a lot easier when you come from a place of kindness and ethics in everything you do. This is where you’ll find true success.

Xo,

Hannah
